After the IEP Meeting

  • Meet your student’s teacher(s) at the beginning of the school year, participate in school activities and volunteer in the classroom as permitted by classroom and/or school guidelines. If you work during the school day, you may be able to assist in preparing materials at home in the evening. Being involved in your student’s classroom and school will help them feel special and show that you value their education.
  •
  • Support your student in establishing, building, and maintaining friendships with other students, with and without disabilities. This will help your student feel like they are a part of their community.
  •
  • Arrange for periodic communication with your student’s teacher(s).
