This workshop will go into detail about every aspect of the
assessment process including how to identify and thoroughly
evaluate each area of suspected disability, integrate and
analyze various forms of data within the assessment report,
and document a thorough eligibility analysis. Sample
language will be provided for each section of the assessment
report and emphasis will be placed on aspects that increase the
defensibility of the assessment. Additionally, this workshop
will address how the assessment results inform goals,
accommodations, placement, and services.

Presenter: Dr. Derek Ihori
Dr. Derek Ihori is the Executive Director of Special Education
& Psychological Services for the La CaƱada Unified School
District and the co-founder of FAPE Consulting, which
provides consultation services to school districts and school
attorneys. Dr. Ihori has 16 years of experience in the field of
special education in various positions including executive
director of special education, director of pupil services,
program specialist, and school psychologist. He frequently
presents at national legal conferences and has co-authored six
books addressing best practices in assessments/report writing,
IEP development, executive functioning interventions, and
leadership in special education.
